Quantum theory of optical-pulse propagation through an amplifying slab

چکیده
We calculate the effects of normal transmission through an amplifying dielectric slab on the properties of an incident pulse of light. The transmitted pulse shows shifts in peak position and additional lengthening or shortening with respect to the unamplified incident pulse. The magnitudes of these effects are generally larger than those of the corresponding changes that occur in transparent or attenuating slabs. They are interpreted in terms of the interference of multiply reflected contributions to the transmitted pulse. The theory is valid for pulses of nonclassical light, but the same reshaping occurs for appropriate pulses of classical light. @S1050-2947~98!05501-2#

Plane Wave Propagation Through a Planer Slab
An approximation technique is considered for computing transmission and reflection coefficients for propagation of an elastic pulse through a planar slab of finite width. The propagation of elastic pulse through a planar slab is derived from first principles using straightforward time-dependent method. The paper ends with calculations of enhancement factor for the elastic plane wave and it is s...

We investigate the medium effect of a parity-time (PT)-symmetric bilayer on the quantum optical properties of an incident squeezed light at zero temperature (T=0 K). To do so, we use the canonical quantization approach and describe the amplification and dissipation properties of the constituent layers of the bilayer structure by Lorentz model to analyze the quadrature squeezing of the outgoing ...

Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide has received a great deal of attention in the recent years. We...

We report on the theoretical calculations considering collinear electromagnetic radiation at the propagation of an optical pulse through a slab of nonlinear material. Calculated waveforms of the radiated field fit well to the experimental dependencies showing the remarkable similarities between the radiation at nonlinear wave interaction and the radiation phenomena of moving external charges, s...
